Dear sir/madam,
I'm a historian doing research about World War 1 in Lanaken (province of Limburg in eastern Belgium).
I'm researching the German major Sterzel, because he ordered an attack on the village Lanaken in october 1914. After the war the Belgian government investigated this act as a war crime and a private investigator located Sterzel in a museum in Berlin.
Reseachers have told me this museum was the Zeughaus museum (now the DHM) and that Sterzel was involved in transporting art from Belgium to Germany. I have e-mailed the museum but haven't got any news back.
Is there a possibility that you have any more information about this major Sterzel or what he did? It would be a great addition to my research.
